GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO RESEARCH FAMILY HISTORY AT CEMETERY OPEN DAY

Next Sunday provides a great opportunity to research family history at the Townsend Cemetery Open Day, when burial registers will be made available for visitors to browse through. Town councillors will be in attendance to assist members of the public with their ancestral record searches. Admission is free on Sunday September 11th from 10am-1pm to the chapel, set in tranquil grounds at Mount Pleasant in Crewkerne. Crewkerne & West Crewkerne Joint Burial Committee, comprising of Crewkerne town councillors, town clerk Peter Davidson and West Crewkerne parish councillors, have joint responsibility for the running and maintenance of this function.
They are pleased to announce that Funeral Director Tracey Warren of A.E Stoodley & Son in Crewkerne, will be giving a talk at 11am in the chapel, followed by a tour of notable graves, in the old part of the cemetery. Chairman of Crewkerne & West Crewkerne Joint Burial Committee, councillor Mrs Julia Borland said: “We have a beautiful chapel and cemetery in Crewkerne. We are delighted that Tracey Warren has offered to give a talk and tour. She is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and I’m sure it will be fascinating.”
