CREWKERNE TOWN CENTRE POST OFFICE OPENS FOR BUSINESS

Crewkerne’s town centre post office re-opened for business on Tuesday afternoon, in new premises at Dailyz Tech in Market Street. Post Office Network Operations Trainer Phil McMullen welcomed customers who were waiting to use the new post office counter services: “Ladies and gentlemen, Crewkerne Post Office is now open for business, after all these months.” Proprietor of Dailyz Tech Steve Smith and his team have been working tirelessly since January when the post office town branch in East Street, closed suddenly due to the owner of the premises putting the building up for auction. Steve Smith is now officially sub post master and his wife Teresa, sub post mistress. Steve told Crewkerne Headlines And Topics: “We would like to thank everyone for their patience in waiting so long. We also thank all those who have supported us from day one, in helping to bring main post office services back to the town centre. I would especially like to mention our local MP Marcus Fysh and Crewkerne Area Business Chamber and their chairman Brian Forster who has been a great help to us.” Post Office trainer Phil McMullen will be with Steve and Teresa for the rest of the week, to help smooth out any teething problems. The full transformation to a three post office counter service, open for longer hours, will take approximately two weeks, but in the meantime all main post office and parcel services are available and a new photo booth for passport and id photographs has been installed. Customers who visited the post office on Tuesday were pleased with the services being offered, delighted at the shop layout and improved lighting and grateful to have a choice of two entrances, one from Market Street and a side door now open from Falkland Square. Steve summed it all up with a final comment: “We pride ourselves in being there for people.”
