HOSPITAL PATIENTS AND STAFF RECEIVE SPECIAL VISIT ON CHRISTMAS DAY

Patients and staff at Crewkerne hospital received a special visit on Christmas Day, when Father Christmas called in with gifts for everyone. Arriving in a brand new sleigh, that he had built himself, Vice Chairman of the hospital’s League of Friends Steve Crane, was accompanied by his elfin helper and the town’s Mayor Councillor Robin Pailthorpe, Mayoress Jo Lyons, Ron Bond Chairman of the hospital’s League of Friends and Robin Heyd-Smith from Crewkerne Rotary Club.

The festive group, who had brought a sackful of presents with them, were greeted by Senior Ward Sister Tania Collin. Each patient was given a cosy blanket, chocolates and sweets, while all members of the hospital staff received a gift voucher. Ron Bond said: “There was a lovely festive feel to the hospital and the patients were delighted with the visit and gifts.” A traditional Christmas dinner of turkey with all the trimmings, followed by Christmas pudding, was served by hospital staff who made arrangements for all those who were unable to go home to their families for a few hours on the day, to sit together and enjoy their Christmas Day meal.
