OPEN REHEARSALS TONIGHT FOR BRASS BAND AHEAD OF CONTEST

Open Rehearsals for Phoenix Brass Crewkerne will take place at the Henhayes Community Centre tonight from 8 pm until 10 pm. Phoenix Brass would be delighted if people came along to listen to their test piece ‘Rhapsody in Brass’, ahead of the band’s major contest in Torquay this weekend.

Phoenix Brass Crewkerne is a motivated 2nd Section brass band based in Somerset and were the WEBBA 3rd Section champions in 2016. The 2nd Section Regional Finals of WEBBA (West of England) will be held at the Riviera Centre in Torquay on Saturday.

A spokesperson for Phoenix Brass Crewkerne said: “We are returning to Torquay to compete back in the 2nd Section, following our victory and promotion last year. We are entering the contest full of confidence and enthusiasm with our new MD Tom Griffin, at the helm. The test piece which has been selected is ‘Rhapsody in Brass by Dean Goffin, an old school piece of music which will serve as a decent test for all bands competing.”

UPDATE: Phoenix Brass Crewkerne came 11th out of 17 bands who took part in the 2nd Section Regional Finals of WEBBA (West of England) at the Riviera Centre in Torquay. This placement was seen as an encouraging achievement, as it was Phoenixs’ first year returning to the 2nd Section with their new MD Tom Griffin.
