CREWKERNE U3A REDUCES MEMBERSHIP FEES

Crewkerne & District U3A have reduced their membership fees. The annual joining fee for a single member has been cut from £16 to £15 and a new category of joint membership has been introduced at £28 per couple. The annual fee for associate members has also been reduced from £12.50 to £10. The proposal for the new subscription fees were put forward by Treasurer Stephen Shipley, during a special general meeting at the Henhayes Community Centre on March 6th. They were agreed by around 100 members who attended the meeting.

Crewkerne U3A have bucked the trend, at a time when other groups are putting up their prices and fees. Chair Anne Bright said: “Our finances are in a healthy state, so we thought we could do something to benefit our members by reducing the subscription fees. Our U3A membership has gone from strength, with membership having climbed to a best ever total of 359.” After the new subscription fees were agreed, members were given a talk on how to enjoy a healthy, wealthy and happy retirement by Roy Wood.
