CREWKERNE U3A TRIBUTE TO SOUTH WEST LEADER

Crewkerne & District U3A paid tribute to U3A trustee Diana Holdsworth, who is stepping down after three years. Val Warren of Crewkerne U3A said: “We thanked Diana for her leadership during the past three years. She will be missed and is a very hard act to follow.” Val Warren who represents the Avalon network of U3As in south Somerset said goodbye to Diana at a meeting in Exeter, which was attended by U3A representatives from across the South West region, extending from Cornwall to Gloucestershire. A new trustee will be elected at the U3A’s annual meeting.

Under Diana Holdsworth’s stewardship, there had been a surge in the number of new U3As that had started. She predicted that the region would continue to grow and flourish saying: “I cannot thank enough the network representatives for working so hard in helping me to make our region so successful.” Besides Crewkerne & District, the Avalon network also includes the U3As of Chard & Ilminster, Somerton, Street, Glastonbury, Camelot and Yeovil.
