LITTLE MONKEYS AT TOY LIBRARY

Little Monkeys at the toy library is the new name for the Wednesday morning group, which meets in the Speedwell Hall in Abbey Street. Joint facilitators Hannah Smillie and Sarah Ellis, who stepped in to save Crewkerne Toy Library from closure, decided to keep part of the group’s original name while giving it a fresh identity. Their new slogan is ‘Little Monkeys stay and play at the toy library’. Hannah explained that she hadn’t realised children could stay and play at the toy library as its former name didn’t make it clear. She had consulted with Mums in the town and many had thought it was a place you went to, just to borrow toys.

Little Monkeys opens its doors for weekly play and craft sessions with the facility to borrow toys, on Wednesday March 22nd at 10 am. The group for babies and toddlers with their Mums or Dads, runs until 11.15 am and all are welcome. Admission costs £1.50 per family which includes a hot drink for the adults, juice for the little ones and biscuits. Hannah and Sarah are looking forward to their new venture and have lots of exciting plans, including an Easter egg hunt. A trial run with invited parents and their children took place yesterday and was a resounding success.
