A new sandwich shop and smoothie bar opened in Crewkerne on Wednesday morning. The shop in Market Square was previously an estate agents. Business partners in the new venture are Suzanne Butts, Nancy Atkinson and Paul Clarke. Nancy and Paul are also directors of Libertas Care Ltd, an independent care agency based in Crewkerne.
The sandwich shop and smoothie bar is a whole new experience for them. Paul said: “We believed there was an opportunity for a shop of this kind in the town, so we just went for it.” Good To Go is the name of the new shop, which is light and airy with friendly staff serving sandwiches, cakes, coffees, smoothies and other sundries to take away. Before it was a series of different estate agents, the premises were home to a freezer shop. Way back in time circa 1920s, there was a small cafe there, serving home-made goodies and selling marmalade made from oranges delivered by steam train to Crewkerne station. The conserves were made and set into jars by Mrs Sutton and her daughter Barbara, who later became Mrs Vickery.
