Firemen from Station 77 in Crewkerne took part in the National Car Washing League. Armed with water hoses, soap, sponges and buckets, six of the current thirteen on call fire fighters from the town’s fire station, washed cars in the Henhayes car park on Saturday. They were joined for the fund-raising event by off duty full time fire fighter Leigh Bailey from Exeter International Airport.
Donations of £670.85 were collected for the Fire Fighters Charity. The UK chairty actively supports fire fighters who are in need of assistance due to injuries, illnesses or psychological traumas. The national charity helps them to come to terms with the life and death situations they face on a daily basis, providing support to serving and retired fire fighters and their dependents.
Crewkerne fire fighters are extremely grateful to everyone who brought their cars along to the car wash and for their kind donations. A spokesperson said: “It was a very successful day for Crewkerne Fire Station, serving on behalf of Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.”
