Crewkerne Hospital League of Friends committee member Sue Hastings has retired after 27 years service. In addition to her role on the Friends committee, which she joined in 1990, Sue looked after the League of Friends merchandise and made sure there was always plenty in stock. Sue helped raise funds for the charity by selling her hand-made cards, knitwear and craft items, running an annual stall at Crewkerne hospital fete and the village fete in Merriott. She also managed a regular stall in Merriott, for the last couple of years.
Ron Bond, chairman of the League of Friends of Crewkerne Hospital said: “Sue is an amazing lady with the energy of a 21 year old, who through her work has done so much for the League of Friends and for the patients of Crewkerne hospital. She has decided now is the time to retire and we wish her well but she will be greatly missed.” Described as a ‘virtual one-woman charity task force’, Sue Hastings was presented with a camelia and card from all her friends at the League of Friends. League secretary Teresa Bond said: “She is a lovely lady, who over the years has worked very hard to raise funds for the League and always doing it in a very quiet, modest way.”
