A charity car wash and cake bake at Crewkerne’s independent funeral directors Stoodley & Son, raised £426.13 for Cancer Research UK. As part of the Crewkerne Relay For Life, fundraising activities in the town, Stoodley Striders invited motorists to bring their cars to the South Street car park outside of their business premises.
Funeral director Tracey Warren, one of the team members taking part, armed with bucket and sponge on the day, was well pleased with the amount raised on the day. To compliment the car washing event, a selection of cakes and treats were sold to motorists who were waiting for their cars to be cleaned and to shoppers who stopped by to say hello.
Visitors were also able to purchase a Candle of Hope bag for the ceremony at the Relay For Life main event at Wadham School in July. Stoodley Striders will be joining the other teams, with each team member taking their turn to walk the track, so that teams will be continuously walking around the circuit for 24 hours to reflect the fact that ‘cancer never sleeps’ and to raise more funds for Cancer Research UK, in the hope that a cure will soon be found to stop all types of cancer.
