Red Hot Chilli Steppers started an epic fund-raising weekend for Crewkerne Relay For Life at a fashion show in the M & Co store in Market Street. One of the many local teams supporting this year’s Relay For Life, in aid of Cancer Research UK, members took to the catwalk to model the latest fashions.
Over one hundred tickets were sold for the fashion show, where all ages were catered for, with a range of ladies, men’s and children’s clothes on show. The evening raised a grand total of £850.00 and heralded the start of a busy weekend for the group organising Relay For Life Crewkerne and the teams that will be taking part in this year’s two day track event at Wadham School on July 22nd and 23rd.
Weekend events included a charity car wash and cake bake at Stoodley & Son, a quiz night at the Kings Head in Merriott organised by the Wadham Happy Feet team and a Relay Dog Show at Hinton St George run by the Hinton Hawks team. Crewkerne Relay For Life also turned Tescos pink at stores in Chard, Ilminster and Yeovil, raising further funds for the charity with in store bucket collections. Monies raised over the epic fund-raising weekend, which began with the fashion show, amounted to £4,619.28, bringing the grand total by lunchtime on Tuesday May 2nd to £15,850.52. Crewkerne Relay For Life has a target fund-raising goal of £26,000 and are well on their way of reaching their goal.
