A FOND FAREWELL AFTER THREE DAY TWINNING VISIT

Crewkerne & District Twinning Association wished their French friends a fond farewell, after a wonderful three day twinning visit. The twinning group met their friends from Bures Sur Yvette and Igny at Hampton Court on the Thursday, where they enjoyed a tour around the royal palace in London before travelling by coach to Crewkerne.

On the Friday, host families showed their guests around the town and many visited nearby coastal resorts for lunch, taking advantage of the fine weather. Saturday was also spent at leisure and a group of friends which included the Chair of Crewkerne & District Twinning Association Cheryl Newman and the Mayor and his deputy, from Bures Sur Yvette, visited Crewkerne Bowling Club where they enjoyed learning new skills on the green.

A grand party was held at the George Reynolds Centre on Saturday evening, with performances by the Crewkerne Crewners and dance music with Ken Priest. On Sunday morning, the French friends left by coach for their journey home. Cheryl Newman said: “This year’s visit has been a huge success. We had excellent food and entertainment at the George Reynolds Centre. Hopefully we can encourage more people to join in this biennial event. Next year, we will be visiting France and are very much looking forward to it.” For more information on Crewkerne & District Twinning Association, please email cherylnewman321@btinternet.com
