The first and second junior boys to reach the finishing line in the Junior 5K race on Sunday, came in minutes before the first adult competitor. Archie Tyler of Yeovil Olympiades won the junior race, with an impressive time of 18.54. He was followed seconds later by Rocco Sughayer of Crewkerne Running Club with Jack Harvey of Langport Running Club coming in third in the boy’s section.
First home for junior girls, with an impressive time of 25.15 was Olivia Still of Crewkerne Running Club. In second place Ruby Parsons and in third place Lara-May Deakin, also both members of the local running club in Crewkerne. The Business Challenge which is sponsored by Stokes Partners LLP was won by Evolution ABS Team1. Will Retter was the first team member home, followed by Callum Somers and Daniel Henville. Will Retter was also third placed overall in the Men’s 5K. Second in the Men’s 5K was Ben Lee of Crewkerne Running Club and the winner in the Men’s section was Najeep Sughayer with an impressive time of 22.19.
The Ladies 5K was won by Sarah Warren of Stokes Partners LLP Team 2 in 25.23 minutes. Sascha Still was in second place and Kayleigh Trimmer in third place. 99 combined entries were recorded in the Junior and 5K fun runs, with MC Derek Boles, counting the runners down from five to one, at the starting line by the town hall. Weather conditions were fair with a fresh breeze. Everyone agreed that the route had been “fun to run”, apart from a flooded bridle path which was unexpected but safely overcome by all the runners. Crewkerne 5K is organised by Crewkerne Running Club. This year’s races were held in aid of Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
