ITALIAN OPERA COMES TO ST BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH

Italian opera comes to St Bartholomew’s Church in Crewkerne on Sunday June 25th at 3 pm. Soprano Roma Loukes and bass baritone Arwel Huw Morgan will be singing many favourite songs from celebrated operas such as Madame Butterfly, La Boheme, Otello, La Traviata and many more. Roma Loukes sings both opera and musical theatre. She has performed around Europe with companies such as Opera Holland Park and the Welsh National Opera at Swedish opera houses in Stockholm and in Goteborg. Arwel known as Huw, is a principal singer who has performed as Falstaff, Figaro and Don Pasquale in operas by Verdi, Mozart and Donizetti. He has visited St Bartholomew’s Church before when he performed the music of Paul Robeson and the Story of Dylan Thomas’ poetry, illustrated with songs. Roma and Huw will be accompanied by concert pianist/organist and music teacher Jonathan Delbridge. Jonathan, who lives in Crewkerne, has performed at concert venues throughout the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall and York Minster. Tickets cost £8 in advance and £10 on the door. They are available from the Local Information Centre in the town hall. The event has been organised by the Friends of St Bartholomew’s Church and includes light refreshments with Italian themed canapes. Under 18’s will be admitted free of charge. A licensed bar will be available.
