Finley Evans who lives in the Crewkerne area and is a former Year 6 pupil at Perrott Hill Prep School, will compete in the 65cc motor-cycle class on Saturday July 30th at an off road venue near Tartu, in the Balkan state. 11 year old Finley has recently competed in the Thor British Youth Nationals and is sat third in the 2017 British Youth Championship. He will compete in the final round of the competition in September.
The Junior Motocross World Championship in Estonia, will see the best junior riders, battle it out in a format similar to the Motocross of Nations with the young riders competing for individual and team results. Finley’s GB team members in the 65cc class are Wal Beaney, Ollie Colmer, Roan Delaney and Keelan Hope. Other classes which will see a team from Great Britain competing in are the 85cc and 125cc.
Gareth Hockey of RHL Activities Ltd, one of the original founders of the Weston Beach Race was asked to be the GB team manager by the Auto Cycle Union. Gareth Hockey said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for RHL to be asked to run the British ACU FIM World Junior Motocross team for this year’s event in Estonia. It makes us proud that many of ‘our’ riders will race for their country and also have the opportunity to play a wider role in supporting the future stars of the sport, as they race at the international level in their respective junior classes, representing Great Britain.” Finley Evans has received good luck messages from his former teachers at Perrott Hill and from his friends in the Crewkerne area, wishing him all the best for his championship motor-cycle ride at the end of this month.
