Preparations for the 2017 St Bartholomew’s Fair are well underway by volunteers from the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District. St Bartholomew’s Street Fair is an annual event, held in Crewkerne on the first Friday and Saturday of September. It consists of a street market and entertainment, including a funfair and will take place this year on Friday September 1st and Saturday September 2nd. Fair organiser Sandra Shore said: “We still have spaces remaining for stalls at the market and welcome traders both new and old. Likewise, we have space for buskers and are happy to co-ordinate events with local organisations. We are hoping that this year, will be better than ever for everybody.”
St Bartholomew’s Fair is more than just a funfair. The very earliest fairs were street markets and this proud tradition is still going strong today. Since assuming responsibility for the fair in 2012, the new fair committee, who are all members of the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District, have grown the street market and are making improvements to how the fair runs, from improving traffic management to diversifying the entertainment available. Stalls can be booked online at www.crewkernefair.co.uk/stall-bookingsResidents and visitors are asked to be aware of the traffic restrictions that will be in place before and during the event.
