VOLUNTEER DAYS AT NATURE RESERVE CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

Volunteer days at a nature reserve in Crewkerne continue throughout the year, come rain or shine. The monthly volunteer days at Bincombe Beeches are held on the third Thursday of every month from 10 am until 2 pm. The 12 acre site of special scientific interest is owned by Crewkerne Town Council, whose grounds staff always welcome the extra pairs of hands to help with clearing, planting and other woodland and meadow tasks which vary from month to month through the seasons. Many people discovered the wildlife sanctuary which is managed by Bincombe Beeches Management Committee for the first time this year at Bincombe Fair.

Volunteers meet up at the entrance in Beechwood Drive. Any tools that are needed are supplied by the council grounds staff but volunteers are asked to bring gloves with them. Refreshments are provided. Tasks on the rota for this month’s meet up on Thursday August 17th include vegetation and path clearance, which will continue at next month’s volunteer day on Thursday September 21st before the annual planting of bluebell bulbs takes place in October.
