It has been running since 2006 and raises money for many charities. Last year over 100 horses and 100 dogs attended, raising around £1,500 for the Wallace and Gromits’ Childrens Charity. This year the show will be raising money for the Dialysis Unit at Dorchester Hospital and Rushton Dog Rescue.

The horse show which begins at 9 am has a diverse schedule of showing, working hunter, show jumping, gymkhana and dressage classes. It caters for a range of ages and abilities and some of the show jumping and dressage classes are Crickland Qualifiers. The show’s featured Handy Pony has been well received and grown in popularity throughout the years, culminating in last year’s Wallace and Gromit themed course, which was enjoyed by all age groups and resulted in a very competitive finish.

The production of fancy dress costumes continues to amaze everyone each year and will make the judging a difficult task for the Mayor of Crewkerne Ben Hodgson. The dog show takes place in the afternoon from 12 pm onwards, comprising of a wide range of Pedigree and Novelty classes. It is always well attended and provides a fun and friendly atmosphere. The organisers of Crewkerne End Of Summer Show are grateful to all their sponsors and to the Lions Club of Crewkerne, without whom they would be unable to run the event. They are also very thankful to the judges, stewards and helpers, who happily volunteer their free time in order to make the show a success. Spectators are very welcome.
