The annual Community Safety Day, organised by Crewkerne Town Council’s Community Safety Group takes place on Friday September 8th. Last year the event took place in Falkland Square but this year it is being held in front of the town hall in Market Square. The event will be open to everyone to drop in at any time during the opening hours from 10 am until 1 pm, to chat with exhibitors and town councillors on matters which may cause them concern.
As in previous years, Somerset Road Safety Partnership will be exhibiting as will officers from the Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, who will be on hand to offer advice on Home Safety. The Police ‘Bobby Van’ will be joining the Community Safety event this year. This is a service that has been set up to provide extra security to vulnerable people or those who have been the victim of crime.
In addition, there will be a wide range of other stands including Trading Standards, care organisations, South West Ambulance Service and many more. Chairman of the Crewkerne Community Safety Group, Cllr Mike Best said: “Crewkerne is one of the few towns to still have a Community Safety Group and the idea of the event is to give local people the opportunity to discuss their concerns about community safety or that of their environment and to find out about things they might not have previously been aware of.” For more information, please contact Laura Gowers at Crewkerne Town Council on 01460 74001 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
