The national chairman of the Third Age Trust, Pam Jones is coming to Crewkerne to help the local U3A celebrate its birthday. The Third Age Trust is the umbrella body for more than 1,000 U3As in the UK. Crewkerne & District U3A will commemorate its 20th anniversary with a special lunch at Haselbury Mill on November 1st, when the principal guest will be the national chairman. Pam Jones said that her focus is to change the general public‘s perception of older people by demonstrating to them the benefits and joys of belonging to the U3A.
Chairman of Crewkerne & District U3A Anne Bright said: “We are absolutely delighted that she will be joining us for our anniversary lunch because it makes our special day very special. It is a big honour for Crewkerne and quite a feather in our cap that the national chairman will be with us.” Crewkerne & District U3A has more than 350 members and runs 45 special interest groups.
