The chairman of Crewkerne Twinning Association is preparing to step down at the Annual General Meeting. The AGM will be held at the Heritage Centre above Crewkerne Museum on Thursday October 19th at 7 pm. Cheryl Newman has chaired the twinning group for 10 years and the voluntary role is now open for nominations, as the group urgently look for someone to take on the role. Cheryl Newman said: “It is my intention to stand down as chairman after 10 years or so. I will stay on as a member and hopefully still travel to France with the group, as I have many friends and acquaintances in Igny and Bures. I would like everyone who is a member of the group or who has been involved in some way, to give some thought of putting themselves forward for the committee and for the role of chairman, otherwise we will cease to operate and it is not my intention for this to happen. I am prepared to help in the background as much as I can with information and contacts, which is much easier now by email.”
The priority for anyone who steps into Cheryl’s current role as chair, is to arrange the dates for next years group visit to France, book the coach and advertise the 2018 twinning trip around the town. These voluntary tasks could be carried out by a small group, who could work together, which would take the pressure off of one person organising it all. Anyone who is passionate about the strong links that have been created between Crewkerne and their French friends in Igny and Bures sur Yvette and would like to join the committee or become chairman, is asked to send an email to Carol Walker firstname.lastname@example.org. An official proposal form will then be sent out which must be returned to Carol no later than October 14th.
