EMPTY SHOP IN PROMINENT POSITION TO RE-OPEN NEXT YEAR

An empty shop in a prominent town position will re-open next year to an expanding Crewkerne business. The former Gresham Books shop in Market Street which has been empty for over 4 years, apart from a short term occupation by the Rotary Christmas charity shop last year, will be the new home of the Take A Peek Boutique run by successful local business woman Kylie Hammond. Kylie will close her existing shop in London House, Market Street, which she opened in March 2015, on Christmas Eve.

Following a full refurbishment of the interior of the premises at 31 Market Street, the new style Take A Peek Boutique will open at the beginning of February, 2018 with a lot more stock and new lines on offer in the larger retail space. Crewkerne’s previous mayor councillor Robin Pailthorpe said last year that the premises was: “Visually a key site in the town.” The shop is situated at the junction of the A30 and the A356, putting the Grade 11 listed building in a prominent town position and one of the first shops that many motorists see coming into Crewkerne. Its vacant state has not helped to promote Crewkerne as a thriving market town and many will be pleased to see it occupied by a local retailer again.
