Trustees of Henhayes Community Centre held a private gathering for their supporters, as a thank you for the new addition to their building. The new foyer extension built over the Summer with donated funds totalling £47,177, has ensured that visitors to the charity run centre can enjoy a cuppa and chat in a cosy seated area, looking out onto mature trees. Supporters of Henhayes Community Centre include the Warren Trust, South Somerset District Council, Crewkerne Town Council, Charles Hayward Foundation, the ACT Foundation and regular community donators such as the Rotary Club and Inner Wheel.
Information on the facilities at Henhayes Community Centre and information on its user groups were on display to demonstrate the versatility of the building, together with photographs of its construction ten years ago. The private gathering of the centre’s supporters, saw some of the party taking part in an impromptu lesson in stretching by physiotherapy leader Chris Howard and the launch of a 10th Anniversary Draw. The draw offers a variety of prizes and will be drawn on December 1st. Not all the contributors were able to send a representative to the event and the trustees would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank all their sponsors and everyone who has supported the centre over the last ten years.
The new extension has given the building more of a statement entrance as well as eliminating drafts that used to come in every time visitors entered the building and a previously little used area inside the original entrance has become a friendly space for shoppers or anyone in the community to enjoy a coffee and chat. A spokesperson for Henhayes Community Centre said: We look forward to seeing the benefit of the new frontage which will benefit the comfort of all our users. Putting the entrance where it belongs, gives a nice welcome to people whilst improving the overall warmth of the property and keeping down running costs.”
The centre is looking for more trustees and the management are particularly interested in applicants who have a human resources or accounting background. For more information, please apply to Henhayes Community Centre.
