The annual fireworks and bonfire night, organised by the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District, attracted a record number of spectators with its offerings of the biggest bonfire ever in the town, a fifteen minute display of spectacular fireworks, candy floss, toffee apples, glow ropes and sparklers.
The Guy for the top of the bonfire, which was dressed in a stylish tuxedo, was created by 11 year old Frankie Holley Sweetland of Maiden Beech Academy. The grand display of fireworks was presented by Stellar Fireworks, kindly sponsored by Cronite Castings and hot food and drinks were available from the Crewkerne First Scouts tent.
Martin Holley, president of the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District said: “A massive thank you to all who helped with the firework and bonfire night. It was a great team effort. I personally think it was the best display we’ve had. The feedback we have received has all been very positive and people certainly had smiles on their faces when they were leaving.”
Profits raised from the ticket sales will be shared between charitable causes which in the past have included Horseshoes and Handprints, RNLI, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and School in a Bag. The Rotary Club of Crewkerne District send their thanks to all who made it possible and to all those who braved the cold to watch the display.
