Ladies from the Inner Wheel Club of Crewkerne donated twiddle muffs and fidget blankets to Lorraine from Careford Lodge residential home in Merriott at their monthly meeting at Haselbury Mill. The knitted muffs and blankets which were made by club members have been proven to help those suffering from dementia, who are prone to having restless hands. Decorated with ribbons, beads, loops, felt flowers, pom-poms and buttons, they provide a source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation, at the same time, keeping hands and feet warm.
Guest speaker Caroline Dowell from the Friends of Childrens Hospice SW gave a wonderful presentation on the work of the charity. The club’s monthly meeting was also attended by the District Chairman of Inner Wheel, Lynne Evans MBE. Lynne said: “Brilliant effort by the ladies of Inner Wheel Crewkerne. Lovely hospitality and good company for lunch.”
