Winter Wonderland is the theme for this year’s Christmas Tree Festival at St Bartholomew’s Church. Now seen as a regular feature of Christmas in Crewkerne, the tree festival opens to the public on Wednesday December 13th at 9.30 am. Visitors have the opportunity to vote for their favourite tree with a small prize awarded to the winners in the senior and junior classes.
Last year’s Christmas Tree Festival attracted a total of 52 entries from local groups, organisations, schools and businesses. The winners in the senior section were St Bartholomew’s Bell Ringers with their entry of Bands of Gold, with the Speedwell Stitcher’s tree in second place. The junior prize was won by Crewkerne Methodist Church pre-school group Busy Bees with Crewkerne & District Girl Guides in second place.
St Bartholomew’s Christmas Tree Festival is open on Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th and Saturday 16th from 9.30 am until 5.30 pm. It will open at 9.30 am on Friday December 15th but close early at 4 pm, to allow time for preparing for that evening’s Midwinter Concert. During the tree festival, refreshments will be available, served by church stewards. Although the tree festival finishes on December 16th, trees will remain on show at St Bartholomew’s church for the services held over the Christmas holiday period.
