LETS GROUP MAKE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Members of Yeovil & South Somerset LETS had plenty of materials to choose from when they met at a member’s home in Crewkerne to make Christmas decorations and decorate pre-made cracker bases. The afternoon event was hosted by new membership secretary Zena Morgan and Nicola Griggs. It included hot drinks, a selection of homemade cakes and a trading table. Members soon got into the seasonal spirit of the craft afternoon, looking through the boxes to find ribbon, tinsel, beads, pieces of lace and voile and broken pieces of jewellery to adorn their hand-made decorations. For those who preferred to make Christmas wreaths, there was plenty of greenery to choose from in the mill’s garden.

LETS stands for Local Exchange & Trading Scheme. Apart from an annual membership fee of £6, all trading and attendance at the group’s social events is conducted using the non-monetary currency of scrumpies. LETS is a non-profit organisation, run by its members, many of whom live in the Crewkerne area, with an elected ‘core group’ who administer the running of the scheme. New members are always welcome.
