The public vote in the Christmas Tree Festival at St Bartholomew’s Church resulted in joint winners in the senior section of the annual competition. Church rector, Reverend Stuart Huntley announced at the Christingle service that the Crewkerne branch of the Royal British Legion entry with red poppies among silver bells and other festive decorations and the Friends of Crewkerne Station with the ‘Polar Express’ train running, had both tied for first place. Reverend Huntley also announced that the winners in the junior section for the second year running were Busy Bees pre-school playgroup based at Crewkerne Methodist Church.
Forty six trees were entered in the St Bartholomew’s Church Christmas Tree festival 2017 from local organisations, churches, businesses and schools. The theme for the competition, organised by the Friends of St Bartholomew’s Church, was Winter Wonderland. Although the competition finished on December 16th all trees will remain on show over the Christmas holiday period until the beginning of the New Year.
The Friends of St Bartholomew’s Church would like to thank all the organisations for taking part in the 2017 tree festival, volunteers who worked hard to make the event possible, those who helped during the festival, churchwardens for their help and guidance and all who attended the festival and made it all worthwhile.
