DRAMA AND OPERA SOCIETY RECEIVE SEVEN AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Crewkerne United Dramatic and Operatic Society (CUDOS) have received seven nominations for their production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in September last year. In the David Beach awards for musical theatre, CUDOS have been nominated for Best Creative Lighting, Best Stage Management, Best Made Set, Bright Technical Award – for design and operation of staging/scenery, the Challenge trophy, Best Supporting Actress – Diana Hodgson as Muriel and Best Male In Lead – Nick Harris as Lawrence.

The competition is run by the Somerset Fellowship of Drama and the awards ceremony will take place on March 10th. CUDOS are delighted with the nominations for the prestigious awards which recognise the society, stage management with Lucy Singleton and her team, the Set team led by Dave and Ann Brolly and cast stars Diana Hodgson and Nick Harris. CUDOS are currently preparing for their pantomime of Snow White which is written and directed by Ann Brolly. The panto takes to the stage at Victoria Hall from January 24th – 27th, evening productions are at 7.30 pm and a special Matinee performance takes place on Saturday January 27th at 2.30 pm. Tickets for the pantomime are still available by calling 01460 74380 or via the CUDOS website.

Auditions for CUDOS’ Spring play Don’t Dress For Dinner will begin on Monday February 5th at 7.30 pm in Victoria Hall with Read Through Auditions. Don’t Dress For Dinner is a farce that takes place in a stylishly converted French farmhouse. It promises to be full of hilarious confusion and improvisation, as the mistress is mistaken for a cordon bleu cook and vice a versa. The Spring play will be directed by George Flint and stage managed by Lucy Singleton.
