ROYAL BRITISH LEGION BRANCH AWARDED EFFICIENCY TROPHY FOR THIRD YEAR RUNNING

The Crewkerne branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded the Barnes Cup for efficiency for the third year running. The prestigious trophy was presented to committee and branch members at the Royal British Legion county conference, held at Writhlington School in Radstock. Branch members were delighted to receive the award for the third consecutive year. Crewkerne branch chairman Tony Samuel said: “I know how hard the committee have worked this last year and it’s a joint effort that makes us so successful. I can’t thank them enough.”

There was further cause to celebrate at the conference when Crewkerne branch deputy treasurer Terry Austin received a new county award for Volunteer of the Year. Terry’s commitment to the branch has been outstanding. He has been their vice-chairman, is currently deputy treasurer and has supported the Poppy stall in all weathers, created his pyrography craft to sell on the stall in the Summer, visited children in schools to talk about the Legion and much more. Branch committee members agreed that Terry Austin completely deserved the award for all his hard work over the years. Chairman Tony Samuel said: “We are so fortunate to have him. He thoroughly deserves this award.”
