ROTARY’S JUNIOR CHEF OF THE YEAR A CLOSE RUN COMPETITION

The junior section of the Rotary Club of Crewkerne’s annual Young Chef of the Year was a close run competition. The event held at Maiden Beech Academy on January 16th, saw six competitors Megan Russell, Elenor Penny, Leah Thomas, Jack Crocker, Saul Wakeman and Genevieve Clark present a three course meal. Marks were awarded for planning, the quality of the cooking and presentation.

The panel of judges had a difficult task in reaching their decision in the closely run contest which was won by Elenor Penny. Elenor will now progress to the district final, to be held in Highbridge on February 3rd. All of the competitors received a diploma, recognising their participation and a special mention was made about the efforts of Jack Crocker by the judges, who received a prize from the panel. The presentations were made by Peter Lawrence, president of the Rotary Club of Crewkerne.
