DAY MANAGER RETIRES AS FARMERS MARKET WELCOMES NEW PRODUCER

The Day Manager at Crewkerne Farmers Market retired on Saturday after over eight years in the voluntary post. Christine Langford was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Simon Ayres, Somerset Farmers Markets co-ordinator. Christine said: “After more than eight years, I think it’s time for someone else to take on the Crewkerne Farmers Market baton. It’s been a privilege working with the producers and I will miss my monthly catch-ups with our customers. Thank you all for your support.”

The new Day Manager is Pru Rose of Old Castle Farm pork producers, who is a regular attendant at the farmers market and has volunteered to take over the role. Crewkerne Farmers Market which is held on the third Saturday of every month from 9 am until 1 pm in front of the Henhayes Centre, welcomed new producer Clare Turner from In Clover at the February market. Clare offers sturdy flowering plants and her arrival is an early indication that Spring is on the way.

A representative from Somerset Wildlife Trust was also in attendance on the day along with other Somerset and Dorset producers,Bower Hinton Farm Shop, Eggardon Rare Breeds, North Perrott Fruit Farm, The Renegade Monk, Somerset Cheese Company, Taylors Traditional Bakers, The Country Potter, West Country Water Buffalo and Dorset Shell Fish, offering quality food, drink and other products that have been reared, grown, created or caught in the local counties.
