A Beginners Life Skills course for dogs aged 20 months and over starts at Wadham School sports hall on Saturday March 17th at 11.15 am. Course leader Emma Rogers is a professional instructor who qualified at the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour & Training. The six week course will focus each week on a different concept, covering optimism, confidence, calmness, fears, flexibility and impulse/self-control, as well as working on the basic commands that you would find in a regular dog training course. Emma said: “I work primarily as a Concept Trainer. If you are looking for a course where your dog will learn the basic sit, down and stay commands along with recall, socialising with other dogs and loose-lead walking, you will not be disappointed as these are also covered.”
Using positive reinforcement and force-free training, the dogs will be challenged and encouraged to learn and have fun while making their own choices through their owners shaping of their behaviour. There will be an owners only session on Friday March 15th at 7 pm, to meet the trainer, learn about Concept training methods and find out what is included in the course. The six week course of one hour sessions costs £60 and requires a £30 deposit to secure a place. Please contact Emma at Top Dog Training And Behaviour on 07812767245 to book or for more information.
