YOUNG CHILDREN CELEBRATE WORLD BOOK DAY

Children at Jigsaw Preschool celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as characters from their favourite stories. The literary event was held a week later than planned, due to the snow and icy weather conditions the week before. The majority of children and staff dressed up and arrived for the session with the books in which their chosen characters appeared.

Jigsaw Preschool leader Astra Conroy said: “The children had great fun looking at the books and talking about their outfits. One of the children asked if we could do it again and the appearance of Stickman proved popular with everyone treating him as if he was a superstar.” Other characters which ‘leapt from the pages’ saw the children dressed as Elmer, Elsa, Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Burglar Bill and Gruffalo, producing a dazzling array of story book characters.
