Fundraising for Crewkerne In Bloom began on Saturday with a plant stall in Falkland Square. The community project is the initiative of the Inner Wheel Club of Crewkerne, whose members were happy to run the stall, selling plants and floral arrangements to customers in time for Mothers Day and speaking to members of the public on how they could become involved with the new venture. Crewkerne In Bloom plans to enhance the town centre with hanging baskets of flowers, transform any neglected community flower beds into an array of colour and help to encourage pride in the town and its environment.

Anyone who wishes to contribute by helping with paperwork or fundraising, litter picking, weeding, general tidying up, gardening, watering or anything else which may be helpful, can become a Friend of Crewkerne In Bloom. There is no membership fee and all age groups are being encouraged to see how they may be able to assist in a range of voluntary tasks, to enhance the local environment and quality of life in Crewkerne for everyone.

Crewkerne In Bloom is also looking for local businesses to come on board with sponsorships currently available. All businesses which offer financial assistance or donations of plants and other essential gardening items, will be mentioned in the promotional material for the community project. For more information, please telephone 01460 63856 or 72665 or join Crewkerne In Bloom at their next working group meeting in the town hall on Tuesday March 27th at 7.30 pm.
