The new kit for the walking football team of Crewkerne & District U3A has brought success in a regional tournament. Walking footballers took part in the U3A tournament at Strode College in Street, wearing their new pale blue shirts for the first time. Scoring their first ever goal in a tournament, the local team won 1-0 against Midsomer Norton in the first match. Crewkerne U3A’s walking football team followed this with a 1-0 win against Clevedon Greens and then drew 0-0 against Yeovil before losing their last two matches against Clevedon Blues and Taunton 2-0 respectively.

Chair of Crewkerne & District U3A Anne Bright said: “We had a squad of nine players and everyone was able to play during the tournament, even me. It was an excellent team effort. My thanks to all of them and I must say the new shirts looked good.” Team members included Bob Bright, Keith Feddery, Mick Pardoe, Andy Derrick, Peter Riddell plus three from Chard U3A – new chairman Roy Howells, Barry Mosley and Phil Lidney.
