Crewkerne’s newest barber shop and salon officially opened in town on Wednesday morning after a successful weekend launch party. The new Kevin Murphy session salon is run by husband and wife team, Ryan and Rachel Knight. Ryan recently changed career direction from working in welding to train as a barber. Rachel has worked for the last 10 years in education, training aspiring hairdressers and barbers and decided the time was right to open their own business Brothers & Sisters in vacant premises at 2 South Street.
The couple have been renovating the shop for the last two months. Rachel said: “Juggling life and shop felt like we were spinning plates to achieve everything in time, with decorating going on into the early hours. We are now open and welcome you all to see the amazing results and find out more about our salon and barber services.” Goody bags were given out on the Saturday and Sunday at the launch party, containing samples of Kevin Murphy products, which are eco-friendly and sulphate, paraben and animal cruelty free. Visitors were able to see what they would look like with a new hair colour and fringe with fringe wigs available to try on.
Rachel and Ryan would like to thank Hinton Honeybees playgroup for the lovely artwork which provided window covering before they opened, Can I Bake You A Cake? for the delicious cup-cakes, Twigs & Twine for the potted plants and everyone else who helped them to launch their new hairdressing business for men, women and children. Brothers & Sisters is open on Wednesday 10 am – 6 pm, Thursday 10 am – 9 pm, Fridays
10 am – 6 pm, Saturdays 8.30 am – 5.30 pm and on Sundays from 10 am until 2 pm. A special children’s time will run on the last Sunday of every month, during business hours, for youngsters who become anxious at having their hair cut and prefer to be with other children of a similar age when they go to the hairdressers.
