A mystery thriller based on a famous novel by Daphne du Maurier is the final film of the season at Crewkerne’s community cinema. Film Crew members selected My Cousin Rachel from a short list of three films at their April film show. The results in the votes cast were My Cousin Rachel 31, Victoria and Abdul 27 and The Big Sick 19. Adapted and directed by Roger Michell, the psychological drama stars Rachel Weisz as Rachel and Sam Claflin as Philip.
Filmed in Italy and in England, the film weaves a story of intrigue, revenge and desire when Philip plots against his late cousin’s mysterious beautiful wife, who he believes is responsible for his cousin’s death. As the story unfolds, Philip’s feelings become complicated when he finds himself falling under the spell of Rachel’s charms.
Film night in Crewkerne on Friday May 25th at 7.30 pm in the auditorium at Wadham School, is the final one until the new season begins in September. Current members of Film Crew can re-join before the film when doors open at 7 pm at the loyalty discount of £22. New members can join for next seasons film shows for £25.
