A group of Friends of Crewkerne In Bloom met for a working party at Lower Severalls Nursery, where they planted-up hanging baskets in their new Hi-Viz vests, sponsored by Pattemores Transport. The raspberry pink vests have the logo of Pattemores West Country Dairy Produce on the front and Crewkerne In Bloom on the back. Volunteers from the community project which aims to brighten up the town with flowers in hanging baskets and wooden planters made by the Men’s Shed group, were collected from Yellowbox-Workwear & Team Wear signs and graphics earlier this month.

Volunteers are still needed to help with planting up more hanging baskets and other tasks, Crewkerne In Bloom has also received support from the Rotary Club of Crewkerne and from Crewkerne Town Council who recently secured a grant for £1,057 to provide a water bowser, 20 self-watering baskets, brackets, compost and plants. The community project is an initiative by the Inner Wheel Club of Crewkerne and has received sponsorship from other local businesses, which currently include A E Stoodley & Son, Euroquartz Ltd, Footprintz and McKinlays.

Twigs & Twine in the George Shopping Centre are running the official Facebook page for Crewkerne In Bloom and acting as a central contact point for anyone who wishes to find out more or drop off unwanted hanging baskets, seeds, large pots and watering cans. CIB have also recently put out a request for old bicycles which they plan to decorate with flowers and display at various places in the town.
The next drop-in working party for Crewkerne In Bloom will be held in Crewkerne, within walking distance of the town centre, on Tuesday May 29th. For details of the exact times, venue and other information, please call Desi on 01460 63856.
