Scaffolding at the town hall in Crewkerne is due to come down tomorrow Tuesday 26th. The road in Market Square will be closed to traffic from 9 am – 3 pm on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th, to allow the scaffolders to work safely. The scaffolding was erected on April 12th for stone work that was expected to take two to three weeks.

Crewkerne Town Council would like to apologise for any disruption caused by the scaffolding around the town hall building. Deputy town clerk Laura Gowers said: “The work required has proved to be more time consuming than anticipated as the stonemasons found the stone work to be in a poor condition which required additional repair work. The town council are pleased to say that restoration of the stone work is now almost complete and the scaffolding is due to be taken down by Wednesday June 27th. We apologise for the delay and thank you for your patience.”

Parking spaces outside of Oscars wine bar were also suspended and bollards were put in place, a measure taken to keep the traffic flowing. Parking will return to normal at this location once the scaffolding has been taken down. Bus passengers are reminded to use the bus stop in Church Street while the road outside of the Kings Arms is temporarily
