NEW PRESIDENT RECEIVES CHAIN OF OFFICE

The new President of the Rotary Club of Crewkerne Stuart Prince received the Chain of Office at the club’s Monday lunchtime meeting in the George Hotel. Stuart was congratulated by fellow Rotarian and a former president David Fradgley, who stood in for the outgoing 2017/2018 president Peter Lawrence who is currently indisposed.

The Rotary Club of Crewkerne are busy preparing for the Dinnington Ride, one of the club’s main events of the year, which will begin from a field close to the Dinnington Docks public house near Hinton St George on Sunday August 26th. The principal beneficiary of the annual cross country horse ride, which attracts horse riders from all across the West Country, is Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.

Riding across 12 miles of picturesque farmland, woodland and parkland, the fun horse ride is now in its 38th year. It is open to all ages but riders under the age of 14 years need to be accompanied by an adult. Entry fee is £15. There is also an optional shorter course of six miles. Registration can be made on the day or prior to the event by phoning 01460 75450.

Horse riders are reminded to ensure that their public liability insurance is up to date and that the Dinnington Ride starts at 9.30 am and all riders must start by 11.30 am at the latest. Rosettes will be awarded to everyone who takes part. There is plenty of parking on site for horse boxes and other vehicles and refreshments will be available.
