LIONS CLUB SPECIAL PRESENTATION BEFORE DUCK RACE

The President of Crewkerne Lions Club Cecil Turner made a special presentation to a fellow member of the club before the annual duck race at Clapton. Cecil awarded Rodney Dalwood with the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest award that a Lion can receive from the organisation. Rodney’s wife Hazel who organises the dog and horse shows for the Club was presented with a large bouquet of flowers.

Lion Fred Broom, dressed this year in a Thunderbird suit, started the duck race. Spectators watched from the safety of the river bank as hundreds of plastic ducks made their way down stream and those with winning duck numbers collected their prizes at the finishing line. This year’s Summer fundraising event began with a charity tractor run across the fields and through country lanes before finishing with a cream tea back at the Clapton field.

Crewkerne Lions Club are delighted to announce that their first charity tractor run was a great success and the £1,000 proceeds will be donated to the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. They are planning another tractor run with a brand new route, in aid of Yeovil Town Football Club Disability Support Unit, which will take place on Sunday October 14th.
