West One Surgery has merged with Crewkerne Health Centre, enabling patients to benefit from the support of a larger NHS team and have in time, a greater choice of healthcare services, making better use of the space at the GP practice in West Street. Since 1998, Dr Michael Osborne and his team have been providing healthcare services to the local community and currently supports over 2,000 patients.
In a letter informing patients of the merger, Dr Osborne who has worked as a doctor for over 37 years said: “Like many other single run GP practices across the country, it is becoming increasingly difficult for small practices like ours to provide the healthcare services required to meet the increasing needs of our patients – many of whom are living with more complex conditions. We want to ensure that our patients can still enjoy a full service at West One Surgery, as well as being able to develop essential new ways to meet challenging healthcare needs, both today and in the future. To ensure that we are able to adapt our services, we made the decision to become part of a larger team and join together with our colleagues at Crewkerne Health Centre.”
The merger which became operational on July 2nd, also means that West One Surgery becomes part of Symphony Healthcare Services Ltd; a subsidiary of Yeovil Hospital and network of GP practices. West One Surgery are holding a drop-in coffee and question time for patients on July 24th and 26th, where the team will be on hand to answer any questions and listen to any concerns. This event will also be supported by members of the practices Patient Participation Group and further information on Symphony Healthcare Services will be available.
