8,800 BURPEES COMPLETED IN FUNDRAISING WORKOUT FOR MONDAY MEMORY GROUP

Haydn Potts and his team of athletes at LIFT in Crewkerne completed 8,800 burpees in their fundraising workout at the gym/physical fitness centre in South Street, for the Monday Memory Group. One burpee was performed by each member of the team of 11 for every £1 raised through the funding page at Just Giving and from donations by passers by, local businesses and the teams own fundraising efforts.

The fundraising workout took place on Sunday July 8th with a combined total of £800 raised, including £400 plus on www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/monday-memory-group, which is still rising. A burpee is a full body exercise used in strength exercising. The movement begins from a standing position and involves six steps before finishing with an upward jump with arms extended, back to a standing position. It took 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the 8,800 burpees. Haydn Potts of LIFT said: “Through very generous donations and our own fundraising stand at Misterton Fete, the team of athletes completed a whooping 800 burpees each on the day.”

The funds raised will help support the Monday Memory Group at Henhayes Community Centre which is specifically for those suffering from memory loss or dementia and offers a variety of activities, entertainment and quiet time for reminiscing with trained staff and volunteers, giving respite to carers and allowing them time to relax from caring for someone with dementia.
