MEMORY GROUP RECEIVE CHEQUE FROM OWNER OF FITNESS CENTRE

The Monday Memory Group at Henhayes Community Centre have received a cheque for £861.54 from Haydn Potts, owner and head coach at LIFT gym/fitness centre in Crewkerne. The money was raised by Haydn and his team at LIFT by fundraising in an online Just Giving page, on a promotion stand at Misterton Fete and by donations from local people and businesses.

Haydn and his team of 11 athletes completed one burpee each for every pound raised, resulting in 8,800 burpees during a fundraising workout in July, which took 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the exercise movements.
The Monday Memory Group provides a happy, social session in a safe haven for older people with dementia and memory problems who live in Crewkerne and the surrounding area. It also enables carers to enjoy a valuable few hours of respite. A spokesperson for the Monday Memory Group said: “The group relies upon donations and fundraising and is very grateful to Haydn and his colleagues for their support.”

A drop in session for anyone caring for someone with dementia or memory problems, who would like to find out more about the Monday morning group, takes place at Henhayes Community Centre on Friday September 14th between 10 am and 12 noon. Group leader Jan Pymm and assistant Caroline Gotting will be available to chat with over coffee and cake. For more information, please call 01460 74340 or email henhayescentre@btconnect.com
