Yeovil Ukulele Club entertained shoppers and stall holders at Crewkerne Farmers Market on Saturday. Members of the ukulele club were also happy to talk to visitors during the intervals of their performances and promote their forthcoming Ukulele Festival at Haselbury Mill on Sunday September 9th, which promises a line-up of award winning ukulele musicians and workshops throughout the day. Camping is available through Haselbury Mill. Early bird tickets are available via www.yeovilukulele.club
The August Farmers Market in Crewkerne also welcomed Bower Bakery, artisan bakers from Flaxdrayton Farm who have been baking for almost 10 years, using organic flour from local mills for their handcrafted bread, vegetarian pasties, flans and turnovers. Another new supplier, offering authentic Greek cuisine was My Blue & White Kitchen, whose tasty treats included baklava, halva, greek doughnuts and savoury dishes.
Monty the market mouse kept the children entertained, as they searched for the soft toy that was hiding among the food and drink stalls. The locally produced quality food and drink has been recognised recently with a prestigious award. A spokesperson for Somerset Farmers Market said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded with a Silver Taste of the West Award, which recognises the quality and locality of the food and drink available at our market in Crewkerne.” The September Farmers Market in Crewkerne will take place on Saturday September 15th from 9 am until 1 pm on the terrace outside of Henhayes Community Centre.
