CLASSICAL CONCERTS BOOST FOR CREWKERNE

Plans to stage more classical music concerts in Crewkerne in 2019 has come as music to the ears of those who love listening to works by the great composers. The next two Concerts In The West performances will be staged at The Dance House in North Street in September and in October. The Pixels Ensemble of Sophie Rosa on violin, Alex Holladay on cello and Ian Buckle on piano will be performing works by Rameau, Ravel, Schubert and Brahms on September 8th. Michael Petrov on cello and Alexander Ullman on piano will play pieces by Beethoven, Schumann and Rachmaninov on October 8th, both concerts start at 7.30 pm.

John Bartholomew who helps manage the Concerts in the West programme said: “These concerts are given by young professional musicians of exceptional quality.” The aim of the concerts which have been running since 2006 is to provide top quality chamber music at smaller venues in the West Country. The next two concerts in Crewkerne are the last of the current season. “We have already secured a full season of nine concerts, including five at The Dance House for 2019. We are keen to increase audiences for these concerts in the town,” said John who is also a committee member of Crewkerne U3A. Tickets at £15 per person are available from Crewkerne LIC at the town hall with a special offer of buy two tickets for the price of one for U3A members.
