The rail line between Crewkerne and Exeter will close from Sunday September 16th to Sunday 23rd inclusive, to allow Network Rail to carry out works to reduce the impact of flooding on rail services in the future. During the eight day closure of the down line from Crewkerne, buses will replace South Western Railway train services. Train services on the up line between Crewkerne and London Waterloo will run to a slightly amended timetable. The timetable for Monday September 17th to Friday 21st is on www.southwesternrailway.com/crewkerneblockade
A planned 48 hour RMT strike, beginning at 00:01 on Friday August 31st has now been extended to a 72 hour strike, finishing at 23:59 hrs on Sunday September 2nd. Further RMT strike days have been announced for Saturday September 8th and 15th. On these strike days there will be no trains running from Crewkerne. South Western Railway will run a reduced service from Yeovil Junction to London Waterloo. Rail passengers have been left stranded at Crewkerne Railway Station during previous RMT strike days but according to the map on the SWR website, the replacement bus service arranged by SWR, running between Yeovil Junction and Exeter St Davids will now call at Crewkerne Railway Station forecourt on strike days.
Rail passengers are advised that from Monday September 24th to Saturday November 10th, most train services will be re-timed by a few minutes. To maintain the timetable SWR will need to take station stops out of some trains and replacement buses will run for the stations affected. Please check the above website link for up-to-date travel information. Train services will also be affected on Sundays September 30th, October 7th and October 21st when further engineering works will be taking place on the main Waterloo to Exeter St Davids line.
