An award winning crime drama has been chosen as the first film of the season at Crewkerne & District Community Cinema. Film Crew present Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri at the Wadham School auditorium on Friday September 7th at 7.30 pm. Frances McDormand stars as Mildred Hayes, a mother who personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter’s murder when they fail to make an arrest after seven months. Mildred goads the Ebbing police chief into action by putting up road signs, as she seeks justice for her daughter.

The bold script written and directed by Martin McDonagh has won an accolade of awards, including the Academy, Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for best actress, best supporting actor and best motion picture, film and screenplay. Visitors may attend an individual film show, without needing to book in advance for £6. Membership for the year which runs from September to May inclusive, with nine film shows, costs £25. A reminder from Crewkerne Community Voluntary Transport that groups can book a bus for just £1 per mile. The community service has been helping provide transport for people in Crewkerne and in the surrounding villages for 50 years and is a registered charity. Vehicles consist of two mini buses, a 16 seater and an 11 seater, both of which have disabled access. The mini buses can be booked by any community group or organisation for long or short journeys, shopping trips or days out.
